Introducing Debi Angell

Knitting for a good cause...  The Alzheimer's Society

Debi's Mum makes beautiful blankets. These blankets are made from sock wool, 75% wool and machine washable.

A friend, Val Bond, displaying the finished blanket

Thank you for taking time to look at these blankets, there is a bit of a story. My Mum is the knitter. She has knit for the whole family all her life, making remarkable garments that were both practical and beautiful. Latterly Mum knit socks using the gorgeous 4 ply multicoloured sock wools available now.
As dementia began to make knitting socks difficult—as if sock knitting wasn’t difficult enough! Mum started to concentrate on producing squares, rectangles and shapes, still using the wonderful sock wool. With a little help from friends we put the pieces together like a jigsaw, stitched them up and then knit around the outside. The final touch was the designer label.

The blankets take at least 50 hours to make and are truly unique. All the proceeds from the sale of these blankets will go to the Alzheimer’s Society. We would like to make a difference, to make Mum’s knitting count.
